Human Resource Development Office

As part of the continuous effort to prepare UP Manila retirees for their retirement and to recognize the excellent service they provided to the University, the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) conducted a face-to-face Pre-Retirement Workshop. The workshop was held on June 22, 2023, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the 6th Floor, Unilab Conference Room, Henry Sy Building, College of Medicine. It was attended by 24 optional and compulsory retirees from the different units/offices/colleges of the University.

The workshop served as an avenue to discuss topics on the computation of pension, retirement benefits and application procedures. It is also part of the University’s programs for Senior Citizens under Section 36 of the General Provisions of the General Appropriations Act (GAA), designed to provide invaluable insights, guidance, and practical strategies to ensure a fulfilling pre-retirement experience for UP Manila retirees. Additionally, the pre-retirement workshop aimed at equipping retirees with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the transition into retirement with clarity and confidence. 

In providing this workshop to optional and compulsory retirees, HRDO invited several resource speakers from different agencies involved in the retirement process. Ms. Ma. Clarizar Magluyan, Marketing Specialist, was the first speaker who talked about the requirements and procedures for claiming retirement benefits under the Pag-IBIG Fund. She also presented the Virtual Pag-IBIG, an online service facility that allows retirees to conveniently access Pag-IBIG Fund's services anytime using the internet and the Modified Pag-IBIG II or commonly known as MP2, a special voluntary savings program. The second speaker was Prof. Arturo Benedicto M. Ilano, Fund Operations Officer, who discussed the claim requirements and procedures to facilitate and issue the retirement benefits of retiring employees under the UP Provident Fund, Inc. The last speaker for the morning session was Ms. Kristine Deborah Cruz, Staff Officer II of GSIS, who walked through the retirees about the Retirement Benefits under RA 8291 (GSIS Act of 1997), RA 7699 (Portability Law), and Insurance Policy (LEP & ELP). Moreover, Ms. Cruz shared the Non-Life Insurance Products and Ginhawa for All Loan Programs that retirees may still avail even after retirement. 

A workshop headed by the HRDO Leaves and Benefits Section, Mr. Derick Dimpsy Palacio, and Ms. Charmaine N. Aban, was conducted in the afternoon with the aim of guiding retirees with the necessary forms to be filled out, documentary requirements, benefits computation, university clearance, and application procedures for retirement.
